Actual Size of Box
11-1/2" x 5" x 4"DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION The severing of the target wire is accomplished by a rapidly moving, insulated piston which is propelled by gases from a small powder charge or primer.
A safety feature of the device is that upon severing the target wire, the sheared ends are pushed clear of the cutting slot by the escaping exhaust gases.PURPOSE OF THE DEVICE
This device is designed for shearing electrical wires from #26 down to #12 stranded. This action is performed remotely by one of three procedures:
- Manually Initiated Percussion Charge
- Time Fuse Initiated Charge
- Electrically Initiated Charge (optional accessory)
The EIC Device is primarily used for cutting wires that are safely accessible to the bomb technician.
SPECIFICATIONS
The EIC is constructed from a rolled steel barrel with brass end caps and adapters. Various points have been knurled for easy handling. Threads have been kept standard for ease of replacement and/or additions that might be forthcoming.
CONCLUSION
EIC, when fired, involves only fractional inches of motion - this is due to the rapidly moving piston. EIC may be insulated if desired, by using standard 3/4" clear or colored tubing or plastic electrical tape.
